Sea Life Aquarium

As is my usual habit, if there is an aquarium in town I visit it. I guess you could say, "If they fill it, she will come." Sydney was no exception to the rule. We spent a lovely morning at the Sea Life Aquarium. It is located on and under a pier in Darling Harbor. When we first saw it we thought it would be a short walk through a few exhibits. We were amazed at how much was on display.

There were many of the usual exhibits.

There was a giant cuttlefish on display that would change his colors as he moved along the rocky background. It was fascinating to watch.

The crustaceans and seahorses made an appearance.

As did the sting rays and some smaller specimens.

By far the most interesting creature of the day was the dugong. It is a very large mammal similar to a manatee but not at all the same. They are very gentle creatures that slowly cruise through the water looking very relaxed.

There was a hands on exhibit where you could touch star fish and sea urchins and many more beautiful specimens before heading top-side and back into the beautiful sunshine.
