Almost Packed

I was finishing up the packing today and had a little help from my friends. Poppy and Riggs even thought about coming along.

The Clock is Ticking!

We are at T minus three days and counting. The packing is coming along and we may be able to check an extra bag and not have to ship. It seems to be more economical to do it that way.

All of a sudden time is flying by and it is hard to imagine that we will be leaving so soon. The only bad bit of timing is missing Kyle's birthday on Sunday. We will be celebrating before we leave, but it is not as good as being there. I know her friends will make up for our absence.

Shayne has purchased her ticket to come for a visit and will be arriving in Hong Kong on June 24 for a two week stay. It will be fun, fun, fun.

Lots still to do though most of the big stuff is well in hand. Will post photos after arrival.

Countdown Mode

We now have our flight schedule for departure. We will be leaving on April 29th at 11:20 A.M. After a quick hop to Chicago, we will board our direct flight to Hong Kong. After about 15 1/2 hours  we will arrive at 5:30 P.M. ( that's A.M. to you) and begin an exciting chapter in our lives.

The next 10 days will be quite full with all of those details that need to be done toward the end. My packing is well under way. Ken is still in the "thinking about what to take" stage. One impetus to get us moving is the 2" of snow on the ground with more coming. It's April 18th. What gives?

Hope you all are dong well and that the warm weather comes barreling in really soon. As for me, I'm off to tackle that never ending to-do list.

The Excitement Mounts

Time for departure is fast approaching. I get a little more excited each day, especially when I can check another item off my to-do list. Our friend Faye, who works with Ken, sent some of her photos for me to see (a few are in this post) and that makes me even more keyed up. I have heard from several of my Step dad Henry's relatives, Aunt Shanmei and cousin Hao, with some helpful hints and suggestions of places to visit.

Every time I talk to someone who has been there, our list of things to see grows exponentially. We are hoping to fit it all in in three months! I learned last night that our apartment is very close to the "Bourbon Street of Hong Kong." Sounds like some fun times there.

A friend described Hong Kong as New York City on steroids and we love NYC. I am looking forward to three months without a car. I know that sounds crazy to some, but that is one of the things I love about New York. The public transportation is so good that you can easily get around without one. It may also help me shed a few of those unwanted lbs.

Well, I am off to tackle my to-do list once more. Will post again once departure details are finalized.

Hong Kong or Bust...

As many of you already know, Ken and I are going to be living in Hong Kong for the next few months. We leave at the end of April and Ken begins work in Hong Kong in early May. We have created this blog to keep in touch and share our travels.

Here are a few pictures of our apartment in Hong Kong to share with you all. We promise to keep this up to date and hope that you enjoy reading about our adventure!
