Our first night in town we went to the Mall of Asia which sits on the edge of Manilla Bay. This is one of the areas that has been newly developed and shows the direction the city hopes to follow. When it opened, Mall of Asia was the largest mall in the world. It is big, modern, filled with interesting stores and an affordable place to shop. It also houses tons of restaurants and even a huge grocery store. When you go outside on the waterfront, you can see the newest development.


There is a park along the water complete with carousel, zip line, trams and anchored by the Manilla Eye.

We found a nice spot for cocktails with a great view of the sunset.

And as darkness fell...

...fireworks!


After that it was off to a Chinese restaurant to meet Rommel's family and feast on such wonderful dishes as fish lip soup.
