A Few Fun Things

Before ending my posts with Shayne there are a couple of unplanned events we happened upon throughout her two week stay. On July 1, Canadians celebrate their independence day. It seems that the owner of much of Lan Kwai Fong is Canadian, and so there was a street party. Since Ken's mother was Canadian we had no choice but to join in.

Any of you who know Shayne know that she is the ultimate Harry Potter fan. One day we were going to take a tram ride to Hong Kong Time's Square. Time's Square here is much different from the one in New York City. It is a thirteen story shopping mall in Causeway Bay. So we hopped on the tram and headed out.

And much to our surprise we walked up to Time's Square only to find the Hogwart's Express pulled up to platform 9 3/4 in front of the mall.

Once inside the mall we found Daigon Alley where all of the wizarding students buy their supplies. There were costumes to try and wands to wave and even Dobbie made an appearance.

But by far our favorite wizard was obviously a first year student.

One of Shayne's favorite sets of photos are all of the Harry Potter posters in Chinese. She will be the only one in her group to have those I am sure.

As luck would have it, not only are we twelve hours ahead of New York time, but movies in Hong Kong open on Thursdays rather than Fridays. Thus I was able to see Deathly Hallows Part 2 before Shayne! We had a good laugh over the fact that I got to see it before she did even though she bought her tickets a month in advance and I got mine one day early.
