The last of Guangzhou

After leaving Yue Xiu Park we walked a short distance to the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial.

When it was decided to build a memorial, rather than erecting another museum, the people of Guangzhou chose to build a performance hall. The hallways are filled with artifacts and memorial photos while the main part of the structure is a huge auditorium where symphony, dance, theatre and more are performed. The exterior of the building is beautifully detailed.

Following our visit to the memorial, we took a taxi to an island in the middle of the Pearl River for a late brunch at a French restaurant.

Following our lunch we walked to the center of the island past Orchestra Hall and the art museum.

The center of the island is a miles long park filled with flowers and playing fields. What a beautiful place to live.

On our way to the train station we did a bit of shopping and then headed back to Hong Kong.
